Resolved Question: Is this our true voice?

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be
Gt Britain if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the
people from other countries that came to live in Britain because it is the
Country of Choice?????? Think about it . .
All I have to say is, when will they do something
about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated
by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be
Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas holiday, it's Winter Break. Isn't it
amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all!

This is an editorial written by a British citizen, published in a National newspaper He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS,
NOT BRITS MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on the 7th of the 7th we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits. However, the disgust about the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge
against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain,
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of the Brits being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britain's we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Indian, Urdu, Arabic, Chinese,
Japanese, Russian, or any other language Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "Land of Hope & Glory" is our motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.
If the 'Union Jack' flag offends you, or you don't like our QUEEN, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We
are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our Laws give every citizen the
right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do
so! But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our lifestyle our government, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great BRITISH freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE. It is Time for Gt. Britain to Speak up
Freaky.....no deary not at work. not till i go there to do a night shift tonight in a greatly unerstaffed nhs hospital, to work with the elderly most of whom fought for this country and its freedom
Filya...that is true, we have no backbone, but we have to get together and reinstate this country to what it used to be...United! never mind our own little petty arguements between our own four countries, now is the time to put them behind and be a nation again
Xull.......i would love to be a political activest. i would be a very contriversial one because i dont worry about pc stuff and speak my mind. Just wouldnt know where to start and dont think i would like the public life anyway
Bring me sunshine.......im not saying everyone is a christian, but this is classed as a christian country. Egypt is a muslim country but they have churches for the christains that live there
Kamran.........lol @ BNP...You are acting like a prat again, by immigrants i mean EVERY nation, not just muslim. I know a good consultant psychiatrist at work who specialises in paranoia.....i can get you an appointment if you so wish
Kamran......can you find one part of that question that i inferred that we are blaming the immigrants?.......you said that not me......and on that subject....is it our politicians who want sharia law........??!!........now, i have to get to work, you just sit where you always do!!
Xull......you seem to be the only one im pi**ing off. i am entitled to my opinions on here the same as every one else. not everyone likes to be in the public spotlight, and dont think that is because i couldn't say to peoples faces what i say on here, i certainly would, especially to the likes of you. Now go and TRY and pick on someone else.
Mr geo clooney,,,you are obviously thicker than your wife!!
KAMRAN........IF you take the time to read the question you will notice that is was not ME who said that but the person who had the quote in the newspaper.....!!

Voting Question: Take a step forward - muslims in India. PART III?

Urdu is a good language but a dead language like that of Sanskrit. Even Hindu pandits are getting their children educated in English schools and colleges in India AND ABROAD. Why don't you follow suit and convert your madarasas into modern day schools and give a tough competitions IITs, IIMS, and then to all private farms.
all iam asking the muslims who are as indian as the so called Aryan Hindus , to see reason and take a step forward. There are several instances where Muslims in india have excelled despite all odds. Modern teaching and the technology will help youth excelling in all fields . If there are discreminations even then whole country will be with you. A few Modi's or for that matter a few Bajrang Dals will not do any harms .

Resolved Question: Why is there a lack of good Hindi/Urdu learning material?

I've always wondered why there's such a lack of Hindi/Urdu learning material. Except for "Teach Yourself Hindi" and a few others, barely any materials exist and no modern college textbook exists. This is curious considering the fact that India is growing big now and HindiUrdu has so many speakers; true most of the elite in India knows English, but I'm sure deeper dealings can only be done once you know the lingua franca of South Asia.

Compare this situation with the situation of Arabic and Chinese, two similarily growing languages. There is no lack of textbooks, dictionaries, grammar aids, and classes in those two languages anywhere in the USA, in bookstores, in media propogation, etc. The question is why is this situation so, and will it change in the future or not?

Resolved Question: I suck at everything -- and still want to go to Harvard?

Is it possible?

Ok, let me give you some backround information first. I am a great student. And thats about it. Everyone else is really good at sports, or drama, or their instrument, and i suck. BIG TIME.

I don't play an instrument. I suck at sports, although this spring I will be trying out for Track. I am currently in Drama club, except I am a chorus member. I suck at everything

But im smart. Now, i've heard the age old advice. Take AP'S, do extra-curricular activities, community service, ace the SAT'S and PRAY.

But what can i do in MIDDLE SCHOOL TO PREPARE MYSELF. Im in 7th grade by the way

Im taking the SATS for John Hopkins (Center for Talented Youth) this Saturday.. does that count for anything?

Im lost. You have no idea how badly i want to go.

I am Indian, and i am currently learning how to read Arabic (I am a muslim) and i can speak Urdu. In school, I am learning Latin and English is my first language.

In the future, i hope to extend on Arabic and Urdu .
CONTINUATION :

In the future, i hope to extend on Arabic and Urdu by learning how to speak, read, write and understand each language. And hopefully, Im going to start doing community service early so I can rack up with alot of hours.

ALSO, during the summer of 9th grade, Im planning to take college courses at my local community college to get college credit.

When i go to India (Im Indian), I might even volunteer at an orphanage.

Now, i want to stand out. I hope i can. I WILL DO ANYTHING. PLEASE HELP!

Resolved Question: Should I take Arabic or Chinese classes?

I am an International Affairs major and I want to take an extra language. Of all the languages my college offers, the ones that seem useful are Arabic and Chinese. Currently, I'm learning Japanese and Hindi/Urdu, so I have a gateway into both Chinese and Arabic so to say. Chinese is very simple grammatically but its hard phonetics and use of Hanzi (Chinese Characters) is a bit of a deterent. Also, since I'm taking Japanese I'm not sure if I want to do another East Asian language. On the other hard, Arabic also has some hard sounds; and although its script seems fairly easy, it seems to have a ridiculously hard grammar. All in all, when I look at it, the pros and cons of both Arabic and Chinese equal them out in terms of difficulty for me. And they're both equally useful. So the question is, which one should I take (no, I will not take both at the same time; maybe I'll take the one I don't choose to take in grad school or something)? All advice is welcome.

Voting Question: Why Al-Azhar Al Sheriff don't think of sending some of their Imams or Shaeks to North West of England?

North West of England especially Burnley is suffering really needs somebody, who is a native Arabic speaker understand Islam really well can discuss and urgu over here in Burnley, Lancashire, UK. Because the only imams in the mosques here are Pakistani, and sorry to say most of them are really very far a way from Islam and the big problem is there think that they can debate and argue about Islamic topics very well although most of them the language that they master is Urdu.
Despite the fact that they are in an English speaking country and to be able to persuade people you have to be able to speak their language and give them the truth as what Quran Kareem and Sunnah said , not as they know from their country.

For Allah sake save Islam in Burnley, Lancashire,UK.

Resolved Question: Is it true that languages have an approximate 500-year cycle over which it changes so much no one can understa

no one can understand it from year X to X+500 even though it's the same language?
So if you were chatting with someone from England in the year 1507, he might as well be speaking Urdu. And likewise, in the year 2508, if an American read a book written today, it will be full of mostly obsolete words, or words with meanings shifted beyond recognition, new spellings, new grammar, etc??
keep in mind that the kjv of the bible and Shakespeare were 400 years ago, not 500.
And it's just a factoid i read recently, i'm sure it varies by language and it's not very exact.

Resolved Question: Short Urdu to English (or Arabic) translation?

Hi,

First of all, I don't know any Urdu so I'm not 100% that these sentences do not contain bad language. They're related to two things I found online while searching for something and I'd really like to know what they mean. I hope you can help. You can answer in either English or Arabic (if it's easier to explain in Arabic).

First one: The text in this image

This second bit was typed using the English alphabet:

Resolved Question: Punjabi is a language not a religion. Why then many Indians think PUNJABI & SIKHISM synonymous ?

Many people wonder,'' What is HINDU PUNJABI?'' In fact majority of the PUNJABI speaking people are not sikhs but muslims. The bigger part of the PUNJAB has gone to PAKISTAN. In PAKISTAN majority of the people's mothertongue is PUNJABI not URDU. Still why this confusion ?

Resolved Question: Urdu translation software?

I urgently need an
-Urdu to Arabic/Hindi/English
-Hindi to Arabic/Hindi/English translation software.
Not a web translator where we copy and paste words and it turns out to be useless translated words. Also,I don't want services type of translation where individuals people translate text for you.

What I ONLY need is a desktop SOFTWARE for our publishing company business where we will translate Urdu and Hindi books into various languages.

Resolved Question: I have a word file which I would like to become a web page. How can it be done.?

It is in English but does include some Urdu language words (right to left) and images. IT needs to appear the same way on the web page. If I need to convert it to a picture, please advise how to do that. It would be best to make it available as a website which could be downloaded as a word file. by anyone who visits the web page or can just print it on his printer.. Thanks very much

Resolved Question: Have you guys been born in a lucky situation like me?

My parents have been born in Pakistan, while I was born in Chicago. So I have an American accent, fluent English, whatever. I can also speak Urdu, which is the same thing as Hindi. I am learning how to read Urdu (not the same manuscript as Hindi) which has become easy because I know how to read Arabic, and the manuscript is similar. So, I have realized that I can imitate other languages' accents pretty well because I know how to pronounce Arabic letters perfectly, perfect Urdu, and English. I have also realized that Urdu is a hard language to learn from scratch.

Are you guys like me?

Resolved Question: communicating in classical arabic??

i'm not arab, my language is urdu. But, Urdu is very similar to arabic and I grew up learning arabic as my foreign language for several years and have many friends who know arabic. in the future i want to go to college in egypt to learn arabic fluently and well, as well as a native speaker, which won't be so hard since i already know some of it. But, when i learn it, it will be classical arabic, and nowadays no one speaks classical arabic, arabs usually speak the slang of arabic and in their own dialects. So am i gonna have a hard time communicating with people in arabic if i speak classical and they speak slang/dialect of arabic??
